Michael Norman had a less-than-ideal start to the Brooks PR Invitational 400m by slipping in the start blocks.
The Vista Murrieta, Calif. junior, who ran into the All-Time List at the California state meet with times of 45.19 for 400m and 20.30 for 200m, still recovered well enough to dominate the field at Shoreline Stadium in 46.38.
"The block slipped at the beginning and the backstretch was really windy so I couldn't really be aggressive the first 200," Norman said after the race.
"I just stuck to what I know, stay relaxed and finish strong."
Brooks PR marked Norman's last quarter mile race of the year, as he will race the 200m next weekend at USATF Juniors before taking a break this summer.
