The boys high jump will feature two athletes who have cleared seven feet this year in Shelby McEwen and Jaron Brooks. Even though McEwen has the higher ranking heading into New Balance Outdoor Nationals, Brooks, the NBN indoor champion from this year did jump 7' 1" indoors in February, just a quarter of an inch off McEwen's 7' 3/4" mark. Look for these two to battle it out head to head in what looks to be a close contest.
Behind these two, we have seven guys who have jumped 6'10" and one who has jumped 1/4" higher in Tequan Claitt. The battle for third looks to be just as good as the the battle for first. The boys high jump will be one of the events to watch at New Balance Nationals this weekend.
