Girls Highlights:

  • Hannah DeBalsi of Staples took the pace out hard in the 1600m, but Danae Rivers of Wilbur Cross kicked by in the bell lap to win, 4:48.33 to 4:49.67. Rivers' win came just days after running 2:08 in the 800m to break Ceci Hopp's long-standing record. Both runners easily won their specialties, as Rivers took the 800m (2:14.94) and DeBalsi the 3200m (10:28.76). Caitlin Swanson (10:52.53) and Kaitlyn Hebert (10:53.75) also broke 11 minutes in the latter event.
  • Senior Jaliyah White of Hillhouse breaks the Connecticut state record in the 300m hurdles with a time of 43.18
  • Glastonbury won the 4x800m in 9:18.6

Boys Highlights:

  • With the absence of 8:43 3200m runner Alex Ostberg to injury, Eric van der Els of Brien McMahon defended his indoor state title in the distance, running 9:23.94. Ostberg's Darien teammate, Armstrong Noonan, took runner-up honors in 9:26.
  • Senior Anthony Bravo of Staples won his first outdoor state titles, sweeping the high jump (6-6) and long jump (23-9).
  • Danbury won the 4x800m in 7:58.46
