
With 15 of the MileSplit Foot Locker National Power Ranking athletes competing this past weekend, and with all of them winning, few changes took place in this week's rankings. However, a few performances really stood out, thus raising an athletes ranking.
MileSplit Foot Locker National Power Rankings (Oct. 30)
Boys
1. Luke Puskedra (Sr., Judge Memorial, UT) - Season Complete.
2. Chris Derrick (Sr., Neuqua Valley, IL) - Won the Normal Sectional in 14:23 for the 2.95 mile course. Derrick beat the competition by twenty seconds as he prepares for state this coming weekend.
3. German Fernandez (Sr., Riverbank, CA) - Stopping to tie his shoe, Fernandez still tied his 5k PR of 14:42, winning the Trans-Valley League Championships by a lot.
4. Ben Johnson (Sr., Albuquerque Academy, NM) - Johnson rises in the rankings this week after dominating the Los Alamos Invitational, winning in 15:30. Johnson beat the competition by 42 seconds, while racing at 7,000+ feet.
5. Colby Lowe (Sr., Southlake Carroll, TX) - Lowe won his district competition, helping his team advance as well.
6. Kevin Williams (Sr., D'Evelyn, CO) - Williams ran the fastest time of the day at the Colorado State Cross Country Championships Saturday, winning the 4A race by 40 seconds. His time of 15:43 beat the next best time of the day, run by Foot Locker Nationals veteran Even Appel (Jr., Dakota Ridge), by 11 seconds.
7. Vince McNally (Sr., Conestoga Valley, PA) - He star from Pennsylvania won the District 3 meet by a lot, running 16:38 to win the 5k race.
8. Rob Finnerty (Sr., Burnsville, MN) - Finnerty won the Sectional 3AA Sectional by 48 seconds, showing his dominance in Minnesota. State is next.
9. Doug Smith (Jr., Gill-St. Benedict's, NJ) - Idle. No weekend competition.
10. Sean Keveren (Sr., Brentwood, TN) - The senior star continues to dominate the competition in Tennessee. The state meet is up next for him.
Girls
1. Jordan Hasay (Jr., Mission Prep, CA) - Running her fastest time ever at the SLO County Invitational on Thursday, Hasay ran a great mark of 17:10, setting a course record. Going out in a blazing 5:20 opening mile, Hasay crushed her past record on the course by 12 seconds.
2. Ashley Brasovan (Jr., Wellington, FL) - Brasovan won the Palm Beach County Championships, winning in 19:34, winning by nearly a minute.
3. Neely Spence (Sr., Shippensburg, PA) - Running at the District 3 meet, Spence won the race in easy fashion, running 19:04.
4. Carly Seymour (Sr., Central Cambria, PA) - Seymour dominated her district meet, winning the race in 17:39. Her time eclipsed her old course record of 18:04, proving just how improved she is over last year.
5. Katie Flood (So., Dowling Catholic, IA) - Flood won the Iowa State CC Championships Saturday in record fashion. Her time of 13:27 (4k) won the race by over thirty seconds, beating the course record by 37 seconds.
6. Christine Babcock (Sr., Woodridge, CA) - Idle. Did not compete in a weekend competition.
7. Georgia Griffin (Sr., Hanover, NH) - Winning a state championship, both individually and as a team, is exactly what Griffin accomplished this past weekend. Winning by well over a minute in 18:01, Griffin led her Hanover squad to a dominating state win.
8. Kathy Kroeger (Jr., Independence, TN) - Winning her regional by nearly three minutes, Kroeger continues to improve, this time winning the 5k race in 17:58.
9. Aurora Scott (Sr., Home Schooled, VA) - No results to report.
10. Emily Sisson (So., Millard North, NE) - Despite a mid-season loss to US #5 Katie Flood, Sisson bounced back well, running faster at the Nebraska State CC Championships than she did in '06, when she eventually finished third at Foot Locker Nationals.
