- Kahmari Montgomery of Plainfield Central broke a 30 year old state meet record for 3A in Illinois clocking a personal best US #7 time of 46.26. Montgomery was also a state champion in the 100 meter dash with a swift wind legal 10.50 clocking that puts him US #16. He made it three state titles on the day in the 200 with a 20.96 clocking.
- Arcadia Invite 3200 meter champ Jesse Reiser was able to repeat as the 3A boys 3200 time finishing just under 9 minutes in 8:59.58. It was Reiser's fourth time under 9 minutes.
- Reiser was denied a second state title on the day later in the 1600 meter run by Lane senior Pavlo Hutsalyuk who might have pulled off the shocker of the day dropping 6 seconds from his 4:14 season best to win the 3A title in 4:08.19 over the runner-up Reiser (4:09.78).
- The Sandburg boys were one of 6 squads under 7:50 in the Illinois 3A boys 4x800 finals as Sean Torpy anchored them a 1:53 split to US #6 victory of 7:42.03. One of the tightest packed squads in the country season to advance to Nike Cross Nationals, their depth has carried over to the track this spring.
- The Evanston Township boys ruled the sprint relays taking the 3A titles in both the 4x100 (41.68) and 4x200 (1:26.81).
- Ty Moss of Neuqua Valley, probably upset from his team failing to win the 4x800 earlier in the day, took his frustration out in the open 800 field to beat out Edwardville's Wes Schoenthal (1:51.91) with a winning time of 1:51.80.
- Sam Sikon had one of the best field event performances in Saturday's finals with his winning throw in the 2A boys shot put of 61'0.25" from the sophomore at Carbondale High School.
- Ricky Nelson, a senior at Belleville West, won the 3A boys discus throw with a US #13 mark of 192'3". A big PR progression for Nelson over the weekend as he went from 169'9" season best to 176'3" in the prelims on Friday to 192'3" in the finals on Saturday.
- Burlington Central senior Lucas Ege had the fastest winning times of the day in the hurdles sweeping Class 2A with clockings of 14.15 in the 110 hurdles and 37.10 in the 300 hurdles.
- Josh Eiker, a junior from Galesburg, was also another fast 2A champion posting finals times of 10.57 in the 100 and 21.20 in the 200.
- The Cahokia boys ran away with the 2A boys team title, much in part due to their dominance in the relays grabbing first place in the 4x800 (7:53), 4x100 (41.12), 4x200 (1:25.83), and 4x400 (3:17.57).
Prelims Highlights:

- Neuqua Valley also did not play around in their 4x400 meter relay heat clocking a very quick time of 3:17.19 to lead all finals qualifiers.
- Indoor national champion long and triple jumper Ja'mari Ward wasted no time popping big marks in both the long jump (25'0.25") and triple jump (50'6") in his 2A preliminary flights of both events.
- Kahmari Montgomery was moving in his 400 prelims heat for 3A clocking a time of 47.19. Montgomery is currently ranked US #14 from 46.87 performance at his sectional meet. Montgomery was also fastest qualifier in the 100 at 10.52 and 200 at 21.26.
- 4:17 was the cutoff time for the 3A boys 1600 finals which will include the likes of Foot Locker finalist Jesse Reiser (4:16.40) and NXN qualifier Ryan Clevenger (4:16.62), current state leader Zach Dale (4:16.62), Dream Mile qualifier Matt Plowman (4:13.90), and 4:10 season best performer Keagan Smith. Smith was the fastest qualifier at 4:12.70.
