MileSplit All-American Watch List presented by New Balance
Jasmyne Graham has been the dominant hurdler this spring in a very dominant state for the hurdles in the state of California. Graham, a senior at Eleanor Roosevelt High School, has notched two major invitational wins in the 100 meter hurdles at Arcadia and Mt. SAC with her 13.21 wind-legal locking at Arcadia standing as the US #1 performance by over 3 tenths of a second!
Girls 100 Meter Hurdles
1. Jasmyne Graham (Eleanor Roosevelt CA - Sr.) - Undefeated so far in 2015 as the California state runner-up from 2014 leads the nation with her 13.21 win at the Arcadia Invite. Also major wins at Chandler Rotary and Mt. SAC Relays.
2. Tonea Marshall (Arlington Seguin TX - Jr.) - This year's Texas Relays champion defeated the defending national outdoor champion Duncan decisively in that race in Austin with a 13.27 PR, albeit a heavily wind aided (+4.0) performance. One of the fastest indoors in the 60 meter hurdles (8.39), but elected to skip indoor nationals and start up her outdoor season in Texas.
3. Alexis Duncan (DeSoto TX - Jr.) - The defending New Balance Nationals outdoor 100 meter champion took a rare in-state loss at the Texas Relays behind Tonea Marshall, but has been flawless outside of that race and well under 14 seconds virtually every race including 13.54 season best at district meet.
4. Sydney McLaughlin (Union Catholic NJ - So.) - Some concern that the New Balance Nationals Indoor 60 meter champion McLaughlin has not raced at this point of the season (injury?), but if she is healthy and ready, the sophomore star could be in contention to add a 100 meter hurdles national title to her existing titles at the 60 meters (indoor) and 400 meters (outdoor).
5. Anna Cockrell (Providence Day School NC - Sr.) - The New Balance Nationals Indoor 60 meter hurdles runner-up just missed running a very fast wind-legal PR of 13.42 at the start of April when the wind gauge registered just over wind legal (+2.1). She ran an equally impressive time of 13.72 to win the Taco Bell Classic into a head wind (-2.1) the next weekend with her best wind legal time of 13.54 this spring ranking her US #2 in the event.
6. Ashley Miller (East Ridge FL - Jr.) - Last year, Miller was battling with Dior Hall when she lived in Colorado. Now living in Florida and attending Kaylin Whitney's high school, Miller is swarmed by a bunch of hurdlers who can go well under 14 seconds. Fourth at last year's New Balance Nationals Outdoor 100 meter hurdles finals, Miller has been unbeaten so far in her new state with her most notable victory coming at the Florida Relays. Ranked US #6 following her 13.76 win at her regional meet last week.
7. Ebony Williams (Parkland NC - Sr.) - A returning New Balance Nationals Outdoor All-American in the event, the 2014 North Carolina 4A state runner-up Williams finished second at the Arcadia Invitational behind Jasmyne Graham with a personal best and US #4 clocking of 13.69.
8. Kimani Rushing (Hallandale FL - Sr.) - A member of the World Youth Olympic team in China last summer for Team USA, Rushing is arguably the top hurdler in a very competitive state of Florida (see next 3 girls all from state). Her last loss came at the Texas Relays when she finished third behind the Texas duo of Marshall and Duncan. Rushing is ranked US #3 currently from her recent 13.63 regional performance.
9. Michelle Atherley (Port Charlotte FL - Sr.) - 7 times this season, Atherley has dipped under 14 seconds in the 100 meter hurdles including a 13.61 season best in the event. Her only loss in the last two months came against Colorado transplant Miller at the Florida Relays with a wind legal best of 13.85 from Atherly in a runner-up showing in Gainesville.
10. Timetria Mitchell (Miami Northwestern FL - Jr.) - Miami Northwestern is loaded with sprinters, but they also have a talented hurdler leading their program in the junior Mitchell who has run under 14 seconds 6 times this outdoor season and coming off a regional meet wind-legal win of 13.80. Mitchell finished a close 3rd at the Florida Relays behind Miller and Atherley. She is looking to defending her Florida 3A state title and improve upon her 7th place finish at the 2014 New Balance Nationals Outdoor in the 100 meter hurdles.
