Obea Moore & John Muir (CA)
You can't have a conversation about The Penn Relays Carnival without mentioning Obea Moore. The quarter mile phenom, pegged to be the next Michael Johnson, never raced again after high school - but boy, were those prep races legendary.
Moore's 45.1 anchor leg propelled John Muir (CA) to win the 1997 High School Boys Championship of America 4x400m in 3:08.72, a time that still stands as the Relays Meet Record.
Jucorie Tyron (48.0), Shaheed McCullough (49.8) and Sultan McCullough (45.8) got him the stick and the rest is history.
Moore, who would not race again after his high career, still holds the Relays' fastest split.
