Shalonda Solomon (Long Beach Poly, CA)
One of the best-ever products of the storied Long Beach Poly (CA) program, Shalonda Solomon was named the 2003 Penn Relays Carnival High School Girls' Most Outstanding Athlete for Relays. She anchored Long Beach Poly with a stunning 51.6 split to win the HS Girls Championship of America 4x400m in a National High School Record of 3:35.55, ahead of Holmwood Technical (JAM)'s 3:36.84.
Shantae McKinney (56.0), Jasmine Lee (52.8) and Shana Woods (55.1) put Solomon in position. Her 51.6 stands as the fastest 400-meter split in the history of the Relays.
Solomon and Lee partnered with Dominique Dorsey and Shana Solomon to sweep the COA 4x100m as well.
In 2004, Long Beach Poly defended their COA 4x400m title in 3:36.85. Solomon partnered with Shana Solomon, Jasmine Lee and Chanda Picott to set the National High School Record in the 4x100m Relay at 44.50. They were just a step behind Penn Relays victors Vere Tech (JAM), who ran 44.32 for the win.
