Day 2 Finals

Boys Pentathlon (8:00 a.m.) - George Patrick (Brentwood, TN) is the top returner from last year, with his All-American sixth-place finish. He recorded 3,500 points as a sophomore.

Girls Pentathlon (8:15 a.m.) - Senior Maya Neal (Neuqua Valley, IL) will go for her first national title after finishing in fifth place the past two years.

Girls One Mile Walk (8:30 a.m.) - Expect a fierce battle between USATF Junior National 10k Racewalk Champion Anali Cisneros (Elgin, IL) and New York State 1,500m Racewalk Champion Meaghan Podlaski (Colonie, NY), who has clocked 6:36.51 this year.

Boys One Mile Walk (8:45 a.m.) - Cameron Haught (Yellow Springs, OH) enters as the top returner from last year's event with his All-American third place, 6:55.42 finish. He is also the USATF Youth Outdoor T&F Champion for the 3k Racewalk and placed third in the USATF Junior Nationals 10k Racewalk as a freshman.

Boys Shuttle Hurdle Relay (10:30 a.m.) - You can never count out the Western Branch (VA) boys, who stand as not only defending national champions but National High School Record Holders at 29.40. But 2015 might be a year for new blood, as Phoebus (VA) has raced 30.38 this year. Medgar Evers (NY) and Highland Regional (NJ) are US #7 and US #6.

Girls Shuttle Hurdle Relay (11:00 a.m.) - Western Branch (VA) is strong in all the relays, but found their niche in the shuttle hurdle relay. They enter not only as the favorites for the title, but the school has three squads entered in the event and could easily walk away with multiple All-American teams. Last year, the quartet finished a heart-breaking runners-up to Hoover (AL), who set the National High School Record.

Girls 4x1 Mile Relay (12:00 p.m.) - Defending New Balance Nationals Indoor Champions Blacksburg (VA) return with three of their four runners from last year's 20:28.56 squad, including the always-dangerous Bonnie Angermeier.La Salle (RI) is the top seed with two of the nation's top distance runners in Sheridan Wilbur (US #2 10:40.89 Two Mile) and Eliza Rego (US #1 4:34.3 1,500m).

Boys Long Jump (12:00 p.m.) - The top three seeds in the Boys Long Jump have all jumped 24 feet or farther this season and make up the top four on the national leaderboard, led by US #1 Ja'Mari Ward (Cahokia, IL) at 24-7.25. With a good day, the two-time Illinois State Champion could walk away with not one but two national titles - the junior is also ranked No. 2 in the triple jump. Behind Ward, dangerous players include Charlie Lambert (Xavier, NY) at US #2 24-6 and Harrison Schrage (Grant, OR) at US #4 24-3.

Boys 4x1 Mile Relay (12:50 p.m.) - The La Salle (RI) boys quartet boast four sub-4:20 milers, including US #3 4:08.76 performer Jack Salisbury, who will also chase the individual Mile Championship title. Matthew Bouthillette, Dan Paiva and David Principe have all run 4:17 for the full mile; all four have run between 4:05 and 4:07 for 1,500m. The group is ranked US #1 in the DMR at 10:18.14, but bypassing that event to contend for top honors here. It would take a herculean effort to top the National High School Record of 17:07.17 set last year by Christian Brothers Academy (NJ), wherein the legs split about 4:19.9/4:11.4/4:24.8/4:10. There are more than a few top-ranked 4x800m squads who should give La Salle some competition, as US #3 7:49.59 performer Davis (UT) and US #7 7:51.64 performer St. Anthony's (NY) are entered.

Girls Sprint Medley Relay (1:35 p.m.) - Rush-Henrietta (NY)/"Comets TC" enters with the nation's fastest time by three full seconds at 4:04.72 - that's what happens when you have 2:09 800m runner Sammy Watson on the anchor leg. If US #2 Kellenberg Memorial (NJ) can give anchor Jazmine Fray (2:15 this year, 2:09 personal record) enough of a lead, they have a shot at an upset.

Girls Shot Put (2:00 p.m.) - Sophia Rivera (Brentwood, MO) returns to the national arena after posting an at the 2014 NBN Outdoor meet and eighth-place finish in the Discusa ninth-place in Javelin. The junior is the only girl to throw farther than 50 feet this season, posting a nation-leading best of 50-6.25. Behind her, New Jersey rivals Nickolette Dunbar (Whippany Park, NJ) and Jessica Molina (Westwood, NJ) battle for in-state and national supremacy. Dunbar is ranked US #3 at 48-11.25, while Molina won the Eastern States Championship to claim the US #4 spot at 48-10.

Boys Sprint Medley Relay (2:05 p.m.) - Cheltenham (PA) has made no effort to hide their ultimate goal for the weekend - not only securing the National Championship title, but setting the National High School Record in the SMR. Anchor John Lewis owns the nation's fastest open 800m mark this year at 1:50.57, but is bypassing a shot at individual honors to focus his full attention on team goals. The national record is 3:24.69, set byMuir (CA) in 1997. Cheltenham's nation leader is 3:26.11. They will be pushed by US #2 3:27.4 performer Boys and Girls (NY), who boast US #1 1:18.4 600m runner Richard Rose on the anchor; and US #4 3:32.7 performer Oak Park (MI)/"Motor City TC," who will leave their anchoring duties to 1:53 800m runner Cameron Cooper.

Boys Pole Vault (3:00 p.m.) - With not one but two National High School Record Holders in the field, the Boys Pole Vault looks to be the most competitive field event of the weekend. Current record holder Paulo Benavides (El Paso Franklin, TX) enters the championship as the prohibitive favorite, given his credentials as the only prep to clear 17-11 indoors. The University of Kansas commit will have to be on top of his game to fend off Deakin Volz (Bloomington South, IN), who held the national record for a few hours and sits at US #2 17-10. Another Texan, Brandon Bray (China Spring), is undefeated this year and ranks US #3 17-6. The University of Texas commit was fourth at the 2014 New Balance Nationals Outdoor behind Benavides.

Could we see another national record go down? Can a high school boy clear 18 feet for the first time in indoor prep history? It is the #YearoftheVault, after all!

Girls Long Jump (4:30 p.m.) - Kate Hall (Lake Region, ME) has already established herself as one of the best high school athletes in Maine state history, compiling 22 state titles with one more season to go. The Iowa State commit enters the Girls Long Jump competition as the runner-up from last year's championship. With a season-best of 20-6, Hall is nearly a full foot ahead of the next competitor. US #4 Sydnei Murphy (Apex, NC), the second seed at 19-7, is a big-stage performer as she walked away with runner-up honors in the triple jump and runner-up honors in the triple jump at the 2014 New Balance Nationals Outdoor

Boys Shot Put (5:00 p.m.) - This weekend's event will be the first New Balance Nationals for US #1 shot putter Willie Morrison (Leavenworth, KS), but that's not to say the 67-4.25 performer has not already posted some prolific results. The three-time Kansas State Champion and Indiana University signee will face his biggest competition from US #2 New York State Champion Eric Favors (North Rockland, NY), who broke the year-old state record last weekend with his 66-1 throw (pictured). PTFCA Champion Jordan Geist (Knoch, PA) is seeded third with his US #3 heave of 66-0.75.

No other preps have thrown for 64 feet.

Boys High Jump (5:00 p.m.) - Jaron Brooks (Henry Clay, KY) has lept a head and shoulders above the rest of the competition this season - or at least an inch. The junior is ranks US #1 at 7-1, just ahead of US #2 Grant Holloway (Grassfield, VA) - the only other competitor to clear seven feet this year. But watch out, fellow Virginian Bradley Jones (Oscar Smith, VA) stole the show at the duo's state championship on Monday with a 6-10 final height. Jones is tied for US #5 with 12 other competitors who have cleared the height this season and will battle for top honors with US #3 6-11 Christopher Garrick (Marvin Ridge, NC) and US #4 6-10.5 Brandon Piwinski (Warren deLaSalle, MI).

Girls 4x800m Relay (6:00 p.m.) - The top three ranked teams in the nation will battle for dominance, as all have run within three seconds of each other. Millrose Games Champion Mamaroneck (NY) is ranked US #1 at 9:09.36 ahead of fellow Empire State powers Bronxville (NY) at US #2 9:10.16 and Benjamin Cardozo (NY) at US #3 9:11.38.

Boys 4x800m Relay (6:35 p.m.) - New York dominates the front end of this race, as US #1 and US #2 performers Arlington (NY) and Shendehowa (NY) have butted heads all season long. Arlington won the Millrose Games Eastern 4x800m Championship with their nation-leading 7:47.29, thanks in large part to James Asselmeyer's 1:50.88 leg. Shendehowa recorded their season-best, US #2 7:49.55 with their runner-up finish at Millrose, but took revenge over Arlington in scoring the New York State Championship 'W.' A team that could rain on the New York show is US #3 7:49.59 performer Davis (UT), also entered in the 4x1 Mile. US #6 Fordham Prep (NY), US #9 Syossett (NY), US #10 Xavier (NY) and US #12 Amherst (MA) will be in the mix.
