Day 1 Finals
- Boys 5k (4:30 p.m.) - The first final of the 2015 New Balance Nationals Indoor Championship is headlined by Elijah Armstrong (Pocatello, ID), who has recorded four All-American finishes in this event in the past two years. The overall champion at the 2013 indoor event, Armstrong finished third at 2013 NBN Outdoors, runner-up at 2014 NBN Indoors and third at 2014 NBN Outdoors. He is coming off an epic cross country season which saw him place third overall at the Foot Locker Cross Country National Championship. He ranks US #2 9:01.04 for 3,200m and US #4 9:14.09 for Two Miles on the indoor national leaderboard this season. Top challengers include Eric van der Els (Brien McMahon, CT), ranked US #2 9:08.67 for Two Miles this year and the CIAC State Open Champion, and Mike Brannigan (Northport, NY), ranked US #6 9:05.5 for 3,200m and the defending NBN Outdoors Two Mile Champion.
- Girls 5k (4:55 p.m.) - Foot Locker Nationals Champion Anna Rohrer (Mishawaka, IN) has to be considered the favorite for this event, though she has raced only sparingly since earning her second national cross country title. Her sole showing on the track this year was a solo US #5 10:32.17 3,200m. She will test her racing legs against Sarah Kettel (Capital Homeschool, MI), the nation's top 3,200m runner at 10:28.82; Bella Burda (Arlington, NY), the US #2 3k runner at 9:53.16; Ryen Frazier (Ravenscroft, NC), the US #1 ranked miler at 4:41.56 who is going for the distance triple (5k/Two Mile/Mile); as well as Foot Locker finalists Libby Davidson (E.C. Glass, VA) and Weini Kelati (Heritage, VA) The nation's leader in the Two Mile, Hannah DeBalsi (Staples, CT), is no longer entered due to illness.
- Girls High Jump (6:00 p.m.) - The Girls High Jump should be the Nicole Greene (Ponte Vedra, FL) show. The senior is undefeated and the only prep to clear six feet this season. The UNC-Chapel Hill commit will have a bit of vengeance on her mind, as her only prior showing at New Balance Nationals resulted in an eighth-place, 5-7.75 finish last spring. She entered the indoor national meet last March, but did compete due to a schedule mix-up. Behind Greene, Britten Duerden (Morgan, UT) and Danae Bucci (Bedford, MA), tied for US #4 5-9, share slots as the second seed.
- Girls Distance Medley Relay (6:55 p.m.) - A young group leads the nation in the Girls DMR, as Suffern (NY)'s US #1 12:01.10 quarter is made up of two sophomores in Rachel Ludwikowski and Kamryn McIntosh, one seventh-grader in Mary Hennelly and a lone senior, Imani Solan. Whichever leg McIntosh runs will be a blowout in Suffern's favor as she is the National High School Record Holder for 600m at 1:28.78. US #3 12:03.40 performer Haddonfield (NJ) features Eastern States Mile Champion Brianna Gess, who anchored her squad with a 4:48 mile to runner-up honors last year. The stacked Cardozo (NY) squad (US #5 12:07.69) is always in the mix for relay titles and features 55.67 400m runner D'Jai Baker and 2:13 800m runner Emma Gallagher.
- Boys Distance Medley Relay (7:30 p.m.) - With US #1 La Salle (RI) opting to focus their energy on the 4x1 Mile, Eastern States Champions and US #2 Fordham Prep (NY) becomes the new favorite. Conor Lundy ran a 3:05 lead-off leg that go-round, but he does have 4:12 mile credentials this season and could make a strong anchor. The race will be a tight one, as US #4 Mansfield (MA) has run 10:19 this year and Christian Brothers Academy (NY) has run US #5 10:20. Defending national champions Cardinal O'Hara (PA) are ranked US #6, won the Pennsylvania Indoor State Championship and return a proven anchor in 4:12 miler Kevin James. Watch out for unranked Xavier Prep (NY) with 4:12 guy John Rice on the anchor.
