Marcellus Fletcher did it again.
The Byrd, Va. senior jumped 51-feet even - an entire foot farther than his previous nation-leader in the triple jump - to highlight Day 1 at the Virginia Tech High School Invitational. Fletcher won the event by 15 inches.
That's not to say that runner-up DaJuan Seward was a slouch, either. The Brunswick senior jumped 49-8, which would stand as US #4 if he did not already rank US #3 per a 49-9.5 leap at the Arkansas High School Invitational.
