ALAMOSA—Over 610 cross country athletes packed the fairways at Cattails Golf Course on Saturday morning for the 21st annual Joe I. Vigil Open hosted by Adams State University. 93 middle school runners opening the action in a long morning affair, but the main attraction had to be the high school races which included 408 athletes.
 
Several big-name schools were in attendance, not only from Colorado but also from New Mexico. The flat course that travels along the fairway of hole number 3 and along a compact golf cart trail made for easy running for all the runners in attendance.
 
On the boys’ side, the #3 ranked Durango Demons took the team title by scoring just 59 points with all five of their scorers in the top 17. Class 3A’s #1 ranked Mean Moose finished in second ...
