Considering the scale of the Cheyenne Moutain Stampede, the action usually heats up in the very early afternoon. As a matter of clarification, the preceding statement was just as literal as metaphorical as temps crossed over 80 degrees at noon at the Norris Penrose Event Center.
2A girls metaphorically brought the heat, particularly the Miners of Telluride. Led by Soleil Gaylord, Telluride went 1-3-4 with a 31 second spread to easily win the team contest.
Anna Fake, junior and second runner for Telluride, has high hopes for the team after their inital success. "We just want to keep getting better as a team, and really lean on one another. After that we just hope for the best at state."
Soleil Gaylord and Anna Fake will try to write a new ending to the Telluride story this fall.
