For the first time in a long time, Eaton looks like a 3A cross country threat, and Emma Willadsen (11) is a big part of that picture. Colorado Track XC file photo by Alan Versaw.

Last year, Salida was relatively alone atop of the 3A pile. The road to the top this year, however, might have a few more obstacles. Some of the other schools providing speed bumps on that road would include Peak to Peak, Moffat County, Kent Denver, and the new speed bump on the block at Eaton.

It should be stored away as useful information somewhere, though, that Salida is typically a better cross country team than they are when it comes to distance on the track. That same saying would generally hold true about Moffat County as well, however.

As if Salida needed any more help, it's worth mentioning that Susan Wadsworth comes up as a freshman this fall. She's posted some times that suggest she might battle for a varsity slot this fall, though those spots are definitely not easy to come by.
