After staying in-state for competition during the indoor season, Brianna Schwartz (4:42 1600 PR) has been taking her talents out of the state to face the nation's best in the post-season after winning another Pennsylvania state title in the 1600 meter run. After running in the adidas Dream Mile last week, Brianna Schwartz is looking to see what she can do against competition in the two mile at the Brooks PR Invitational after running a 10:10 3200 meter solo effort earlier in the outdoor season.
When did you first learn that you were invited to the Brooks PR Invite and how did your react?
I was in class when my coach brought me the invitation. I was so excited and explained what Brooks PR is to my whole class and they all helped me put the puzzle invite together.
What does it mean to you to be invited to the Brooks PR Invitational?
It is such a great honor to be invited to this meet! Brooks PR is such a prestigious event with the best runners in the country and I was so excited that they want me in their race!
What do you hope to achieve at the meet?
I'm looking to run a great race and break my PR.
What music do you listen to before races?
Overcomer by Mandisa
God's Not Dead by the News boys
What would you consider as your best or most favorite race of all-time and why?
My favorite race was at Footlocker Nationals in San Diego. I ran my best time and got to compete against the best runners in the country.
What are some things un-running related people might not know about you?
I'm actively involved with my church and youth group and my faith is the reason I run.
How and why did you get involved in the sport?
I started xc and track in middle school. I only ran in the races because I played basketball. After ninth grade, I quit basketball to focus on running and start serious training.
How has your training been leading up to the meet?
My training has been going really well. All of my workouts have been aimed at maintaining my strength while working on speed.
What are you most looking forward about your trip, race, and weekend at the Brooks PR Invitational in Seattle?
I am really excited to meet new people who share the same passion as me. I can't wait to race against great competition and run fast!
