Alexa Efraimson 4:33.29 National Record for 1600!

Alexa Efraimson, the standout distance runner from Camas High School in Washington, shattered the high school girls national record in the 1600 meter run on Thursday at her state championship meet in Tahoma, Washington with an outstanding solo performance (winning by 16 seconds) in a final time of 4:33.29. Efraimson had 400 meter splits of 67, 71, 70 before closing with a 65 for her final lap to break both the actual 1600 meter national record of 4:33.86 by Christine Babcock from Woodbridge High School.

The state of Washington will be one of the featured states hosting its championship meet this weekend to end the month of May with two sites hosting their 6 classifications total. Sydney McLaughlin sets frosh national record in 400H - US #1 58.24

Sydney McLaughlin of Union Catholic in New Jersey broke the freshmen national record in the girls 400 meter hurdles on Friday in winning her NJSIAA Group title race at Egg Harbor High School in a new US #1 time of 58.24 for 2014. The Union Catholic ninth grader broke a four year old national freshmen record previously held by Kendall Williams of Georgia at 58.63.

Missouri State Meet (3A/4A)

May 30, 2014 - May 31, 2014 @ Dwight T Reed Stadium in Jefferson City, MO

Hannah Long (4:46.21) and Taylor Werner (4:44.26) ran some scorching girls 1600s at the Missouri state meet on Friday. Long broke a Missouri state record which lasted over 20 years in her Class 4 state victory, but then was only allowed to hold onto that state record for roughly 30 seconds when Werner stepped on the track ran just under 2 seconds faster in the Class 3 race. Records fall in a weekend to remember

 In all, there were 13 record-setting performances at the MSHSAA Class 3-4 Track & Field Championships at Lincoln University’s Dwight T. Reed Stadium. 

Jones caps off his high school career with 400/800 double

CJ Jones has been targeting that state 800-meter run record for years, and it continued to elude him at his final MSHSAA championship meet.

Long, Haik continue Class 4 distance reign

Hannah Long simply owned the Class 4 distance races. Glendale’s Spencer Haik knew there wasn’t a next year for him, as he closed out his high school career with his third 1,600-meter title in the seventh fastest time in state history at 4:09.41.

Grandview/Liberty North Class 3 Co-Champions

The Class 3 boys team race turned into a contrast of the familiar against the newcomer, and in the end they found themselves locked in a tie atop the state standings.

Stars earn first state plaque by winning Class 4 Girls

 McCluer North will surely find a place of prominence for the 2014 Class 4 girls state track championship plaque.

Grandview girls capture Class 3 Title

Blue Springs dethroned Hazelwood Central as the boys champions of Class 4 at the state meet, and the Wildcats did it by scoring all over the track.

Long, Werner top 25-year-old record in successive races

 It took 25 years to topple Megan Thompson’s 1,600-meter record. It took less than 10 minutes for that mark to fall again.

Jones sets Class Record, Aims for Record Breaking Saturday

Cardinal Ritter senior CJ Jones is known for his 800 meters. This year he added the 400-meter run for the first time since his freshman season, and he let it be known that he was targeting the 2003 record of 46.81 held by Jefferson City’s Domenik Peterson during Friday’s prelims at the Class 3-4 MSHSAA Track & Field Championships at Lincoln University.  

Two-way relay battle decided at line

 Hazelwood Central put the field on notice right from the gun that it meant business in the 3,200-meter relay Friday at Lincoln University’s Dwight T. Reed Stadium.
