Ricky Faure has finally joined the sub 1:50 club. Many high school kids have done it in past seasons, but the Rocky Springs High School senior from Wyoming is the lone prep middle distance runner to have currently run under the time for the 2014 outdoor season. Faure won his Wyoming 4A North Regional Championship 800 meter race in Casper on Saturday in a new Wyoming state record time of 1:49.41. He had a quality field to help push as Green River senior Josh Hartford gave a worth chase in second place to finish with a new PR of 1:52.60, while a total of 7 went under 2 minutes in the entire field.

Since winning the Wyoming state title in the 800 as a freshmen, Faure has been virtually unbeatable at the distance as only in two meets since then in a meet at BYU as a sophomore and 8th place finish at the Brooks PR Invitational last year has the excellent kicker not crossed the finish line first. After running a sub 4:10 mile to win the Arcadia Invitational last month, Faure stands a good chance to receive an invitation to run in the adidas Dream Mile on June 14th in New York City, while he already received an invite to return back to the Brooks PR Invitational to likely run the 800 again, which will be held on June 21st in Seattle.
