Ian Milder, a senior distance runner from Mount Tabor High School in Winston-Salem, North Carolina impressed in front of his future college coaches and teammates as well as rolled out a US #1 time for 3200 meters in a 8:53.99 victory in the invitational high school 3200 race at the Raleigh Relays held on the grounds and track & field facility of NC State University on Friday night. It was a five second PR for Milder who ran a 8:58 3200 time trial race back in the fall to tune-up for a eventual Foot Locker Nationals berth in the cross country post-season. Milder closed his last 400 meters in 61 seconds to pull away from a field that saw another in William Roberson of Broughton (Raleigh, NC) also dipped under 9 minutes in second place at 8:58.88, while Jason Menzies of Lafayette (Williamsburg, VA) seems to love racing in this meet as his previous PR was the same race last year and made another big time drop in third place at 9:00.36. Four others ran under 9:10, while a total of 13 ran under 9:15!
