Texas Relays: 11 US #1's & Two National Records - St. Thomas Aquinas 1:33 4x2 & Freier 14'3.25 PV!

MileSplit US and TXRunning.com were on-site with coverage in Austin, Texas for the 2014 Texas Relays. Check out all of the results, video interviews, highlights, and photos below as part of that coverage for one of the country's most exciting and competitive meets at the high school, collegiate, and pro level annually on the University of Texas campus. A total of 6,552 athletes from 32 states and 9 countries were represented among the 3 divisions of competition for the 2014 Texas Relays. 640 high school teams will be in attendance.  

Two national records were set on the final day of competition.The St. Thomas Aquinas girls from Florida made history in the 4x200 meter relay with their national record time of 1:33.47 as part of three highly anticipated duels between themselves and Long Beach Poly of California taking 2 of 3 in the head to head finals showdowns (Long Beach Poly won the 4x100, while St. Thomas Aquinas won the girls 4x400). Desiree Freier of Justin Northwest High School in Dallas added an outdoor national record to her indoor national record within the same month as she cleared 14'3.25" on her first attempt! She nearly made 14'6" on her first try as well.

The two national record break performances on Saturday were two of a grand total of a eleven US #1's achieved at the 2014 Texas Relays over the last 48 hours with four from the field events (girls pole vault, boys triple jump, boys discus) and 8 from the relays (girls 4x100, girls 4x200, girls 4x400, girls SMR, girls DMR, boys 4x200, boys SMR, and boys DMR). 676 MileSplit US national elite performances total from the 3 day meet.
