Cerake doubles with US #1 4:06 1600 and major negative split of 4:41/4:21 in a 9:02 3200 win.

Fresh off a national record in 60 hurdles at indoor nationals, Dior Hall opens outdoors with US #1 13.66 in 100 hurdles

Highlights

Cerake Geberkidane (Denver East CO) won the boys 1600 in a US #1 4:06.56. A significant PR drop for Cerake, who had a previous best of 4:19 at the mile distance from an indoor meet at altitude at the Air Force Academy. The Oklahoma state signee Geberkidane came back to win the 3200 in a meet record time of 9:02.69 with a negative split of 4:41/4:21.
Recent 60 hurdles national record holder Dior Hall (George Washigton CO) opened her outdoor season with a US #1 clocking of 13.66 in the 100 hurdles finals.
Phoenix area sprinter Paul Lucas (Mountain Pointe HS) rolled in the 100 meter dash with a 3 tenths of second victory at 10.52. Lucas would later double back to win the 200 meter dash in an even more impressive US #1 performance of 20.91.
One of the late results from the meet was a monster US #1 leap of 25'5.25" from Serra's Adoree Jackson (CA) in the boys long jump. Jackson felt comfortably projecting a 26 plus foot mark from him at the indoor nationals and he does not seem far off in that assumption in the early stages of the outdoor season.
Air Academy (SO) soph Katie Rainsberger is now US #2 for girls 1600 with her 4:51.20 performance. Rainsberger was pushed to the fast time by Sydney Badger from Nevada (4:52.76) & Lauren Ellsworth from Arizona (4:53.43).
Current girls 4x100 US leaders Long Beach Poly (CA) breezed to first with a 47.03 clocking. The Serra (CA) boys featuring Adoree Jackson set a new meet record in the 4x100 with a 41.64 clocking.
Ky Westbrook (Chandler AZ) mades easy work of competition in the girls 100 dash with nation's 7th fastest time at 11.64 on her home track. Westbrook was a double champ on her home track as she held off 400 winner Jasmin Stauffacher-Gray (2nd, 24.57) in the 200 meter dash with a 24.45 clocking.
Centennial boys of Nevada take the 4x800 meter relay in 8:00.36, while the Long Beach Poly girls showed they have range to run distance too with a first place finish of 9:42 in the 4x800.
Long Beach Poly (CA) senior Juan Ward takes first in boys 110 hurdles finals in 14.22 clocking.
Tevin Mayfield of Corona del Sol (CA) was able to hold off the 110 meter hurdles winner Ward later in the 300 hurdles with a US #6 performance of 37.90.
Tiana Bonds from Centennial (NV) improved her national ranking to US #4 with a dominating win of 42.04 in the girls 300 meter hurdles.
Also ranked among the top 5 in the US in the 300 hurdles, Jasmin Stauffacher-Gray from North Canyon High School in Arizona elected to focus on the 400 at Chandler Rotary which she was rewarded with a US #4 winning effort of 54.69.
Mar'Yea Harris of Long Beach Poly (CA), who is a transfer previously from Auburn Riverside High School in Washington state, won the boys 400 in a time of 48.39.
Vanessa Davis of Desert Vista (AZ) cleared a new personal best height of 13 feet in the girls pole vault to earn herself a US #4 ranking in the event.
Chandler girls went 1-2 in the shot put between Bianca Finn (43'2") and Ky Westbrook (42'0") both throwing marks well over 40 feet.
Previous boys triple national leader Keandre Bates from El Paso Burges High School in Texas was just off his season best mark with another performance over 49 feet in his 49'3.25" victory at the Chandler Rotary Invite.
Two sophomores battled for first in the boys 800 between Perry's Cade Burks (1st, 1:54.90) and Snowflake's Jordan Gardner (2nd, 1:55.35) with Burks able to have the strongest finish between the two.
Arcadia (CA) senior Timothy Duckworth was one of four competitors remaining after 6'6" in the boys high jump, but ended up being the only competitor able to clear the next height of 6'7" to get the win.
Only a freshmen, Deserta Vista's Baylee Jones (AZ) won the girls 3200 by 9 seconds with a final time of 10:55.31.
Hamilton's Ashlee Moore cleared a new personal best and US #5 height of 5'8" in the girls high jump.
The Long Beach Poly (CA) girls closed out the meet with another 3:50 performance, but just off their US #7 season best in a 3:50.85 win to end the night.
