
You can see it in the way she runs. You can hear it by the way she talks. Caitlyn Collier is well beyond the expectations of a ninth grader. As a member of the Bolles track team, her times in the 800 meter dash are exceptional. As a student her vocabulary and fluency is just as impressive.
On Thursday at the Pepsi Florida Relays, Collier ran the fastest time in the state this year with a 2:10.31.
"I didn't have a goal for the season," said Collier after Thursday's 800. "I was just going to see what happens when I come out. When I went to the UNF Invitational I saw what I was capable of running. This (running the 800) was proving to myself that I was able to do it again."
As a ninth grader, her coach, Dan Dearing, loves Collier's eye opening on-track ability.
With three years of high school left, her parents and teachers love her intelligence.
