How did you get started in the sport?
My sister and dad both ran and that's how I found myself involved in the sport.
How have you grown in four years as a runner?
My coaches have given me a steady progression and I have an amazing support system.
Was there one race that really opened up your recruitment?
I would have to say World Youth 1500m was my most notable performance but I had some other solid outings that could've led to recruitment as well.
What was the recruiting process like for you?
It was actually really good for me. I had a lot of fun visiting schools and talking to coaches. It was never stressful or hectic.
Where else did you consider?
I considered Stanford Georgetown and ASU.
Why in the end the University of Oregon?
I chose Oregon because it was the best fit for me. I felt comfortable there and I really felt a connection with coach Powell and the team. And the city and tradition are also great.
Did their location and recent success at NCAA's play a role?
I mean I guess those played a factor but did not sway my decision one way or another.
What are you looking forward to most about racing in the University of Oregon jersey?
I'm just excited to improve as a runner and help the team to hopefully great success.
What kind of runner are they getting in Blake Haney and what are your goals going forward?
I believe they are getting a very motivated athlete and hopefully plenty of success will follow. My distant goals would be to win an NCAA title(team or individual) and hopefully run professionally.
