University got their long-awaited cross country title on October 27, 2012. Then in May, they graduated the franchise. Well, nearly the entire franchise. It is true that Isaiah Dilka is back. But 75% of the four who got it done are moving on to other things. University still figures to be among the better 3A teams, but this is not the same team that manhandled the rest of the classification at the state meet.
And that leaves something of a vacancy at the top. We already saw teams positioning for that opening in track season.
It could be an accident of where I live and the league we run in in track, but my nomination for the team doing the best job of positioning during track season would be Lamar.
