Analysis: The defending Utah State Champions are back and once again led by Jane Hedengren who has won the last two individual state titles in Utah. Last season, the Timpview girls were without Hedengren for most of the season, which led to a 12th-place finish at the NXR Southwest Regional. With that 12th-place finish plus the 29th-ranked returner in Hedengren from last season, the Timpview girls will aim higher for a Nike Cross Nationals berth in 2024.
They are off to a hot start so far this season with one meet under their belts. At the Pre-Region 7 meet in Utah, they finished 1st overall with a score of 22 points and a team average of 19:51, far outpacing the rest of the teams. Hendengren got off to a fantastic start to the season also, running a 5K time of 17:14.70, winning by well over a minute.
