15. Marcelo Mantecon
2023 Notable XC Finishes: 7th at the Southern Showcase, 4th at the FSU Invitational, 3rd at the Great American Invitational, 2nd at the FHSAA Cross Country State Finals, 48th at the NXR Southwest Regional, and 23rd at Nike Cross Nationals.
Analysis: The only underclassman to crack the initial top-25 rankings, Mantecon had a breakthrough season as a freshman, cementing his status in our top-25 rankings. Last season, Mantecon only won one race all season long, but always performed at top-tier meets such as a 7th place finish at the Southern Showcase, a 4th place finish at the FSU Invitational, a 3rd place finish at the Great American Invitational with his PR of 14:48, a 2nd place finish at the FHSAA Cross Country State Finals, and a 23rd place finish at Nike Cross Nationals. In all those races he was the top freshman finisher and the top underclassman runner also at every race except for Nike Cross Nationals. He is already off to a hot start this season with a win at the Cecil Field Summer Classic with a time of 15:01.
Mantecon also impressed this track season, running the #1 times in the 1600m and 3200m for all freshman boys nationally with times of 4:10.88 and 8:50.02.
