Analysis: As a sophomore, Michalak grabbed her first victory of the season at the Liberty Bell Cross Country Invitational before she became the runner up at the Desert Twilight XC Festival.
Michalak wasn't able to defend her Colorado state cross country title from 2020, however, she excelled at the Garmin RunningLane Cross Country Championships with a 10th place finish and a new lifetime best of 16:49.73.
She competed twice during the indoor season, running the fastest 800m and mile times of her career of 2:15.21 and 5:05.23.
When it came to the outdoor season, Michalak finished second in both the 1,600m and 3,200m at the state championships before taking the victory at the RunningLane Track Championships in the mile where she ran a 4:44.46 personal best.
A few weeks later, she finished fourth in the two-mile at the Brooks PR Invitational. Her time of 10:05.25 was ranked US No. 6 and was the fastest time she ran in her career.
