As with any cross country season, success is earned through teamwork, hard work, belief, and special moments.
And this year, MileSplit wants to award those individuals and coaches who impact their teams in meaningful ways.
On top of our annual MileSplit50 rankings, which are awarded to the best overall male and female individuals and teams each season, we will also hand out awards featuring key members and the season's biggest moments.
Wednesday, Dec. 16: The Best Fifth-Man and Best Fifth-Woman (Boys - Girls)
Thursday, Dec. 17: Most Improved Boys And Girls Athletes (Boys - Girls)
Friday, Dec. 18: Ode To Winning: Top Boys And Girls Athletes With The Best Overall Career (Boys)
Monday, Dec. 21: Top Boys And Girls Coaches
Tuesday, Dec. 22: Best Overall Performance Of The Year
For the 'Ode To Winning' category, MileSplit's national staffers voted on athletes based on amount of wins, state championships, national-level success and team sucess.
We waded through incredible resumes, many of which held arguments to be on the list: Brynn Brown, Kate Wiser, Heidi Nielson, Carlee Hansen and Kora Malacek, among others. But we had to pick just five.
The winner will be decided upon by a public vote. Voting will be open until Dec. 26 and winners will be announced on Dec. 30.
Winners from each category will receive MileSplit gear.
Today we bring you the boys and girls best overall career honor. Click through the slideshow to see the nominees.
