Athletes To Watch: John Watkins (Hoover, AL)
Breakdown: Watkins, a two-time state champion across indoor and outdoor in Alabama, has consistently been performing among the nation's best in the triple jump so far across 2020. All four of his marks are over 46-5, and he's got two more beyond 47-5.
His best, though, was his 48-3 from the Martin Luther King Indoor Track Classic from Jan. 20, and that came after a PR of 47-10.75 in December. Can he add another foot somewhere across his phases? That will be the question for Watkins, who will look to hit 49.
Watkins also owns a long jump best of 21-4.5.
