The New Balance Shore Coaches Invitational Boys Varsity A race had a big showdown between two of New Jersey's best on Saturday, October 5. The race came down-to-the-wire between Mainland Regional High School's (NJ) Kevin Antczak and West Windsor-Plainsboro North High School's (NJ) Luke Johnson.
The duo came out of the woods and down the final stretch with Johnson in the lead. As they got closer to the finish line Antczak closed the gap until he was right on Johnson's shoulder. Johnson continued to push to stay ahead - ever so slightly - but Antczak kept his foot on the gas and flew past in the final 10-20 meters to win. Both boys would register a 15:32 but Antczak would take the win. Their time tied Allentown's (NJ) Liam Murphy who also ran 15:32 for the fastest time of the day.
