Liberty Bell Invitational
When: Saturday, September 8
Where: Littleton High School (Littleton, Colorado)
Breakdown: One of Colorado's top early season meets, It will feature 86 teams and over 2,300 athletes. The boys elite race, though, will be ridiculously talented, featuring Valor Christian junior Cole Sprout and Niwot junior Cruz Culpepper. Both athletes stacked up nearly identical in the 800m and 1600m over the track season, though Sprout impressively locked up sophomore class records in the 3K and 2-mile. What kind of race will this be? Culpepper can definitely keep it honest and could put Sprout on his heels. Mountain Vista junior Easton Allred, who was deemed ineligible for the fall after a transfer from Rock Canyon, will run in a sub-varsity race, so we'll pay attention to his performance as well--once the postseason hits, Allred will be eligible to race at national competitions outside his state association. The girls race will feature the debut of MileSplit50 No. 1 Mountain Vista, though the squad will be rolling out girls in the back of its lineup for this race. The fact that the Golden Eagles are still predicted to win should tell you something.
