Athlete: Alex Maier

School: Flower Mound, Texas
Analysis: Alex Maier has proven over the past two years he's one of the best runners in not only Texas but the country. He's finished 14th or better in every national meet he's run at including Foot Locker in 2016 (5th), NXN in 2016 (5th), and NXN in 2017 (14th). One of the biggest things Maier does not have to his name that many of the other guys in the top 25 have is a state title. In 2016 Maier lost a battle at the line with 2017 Southlake Carroll graduate Reed Brown, and in 2017 he had to drop out due to sickness. This year he may see some competition from his own teammate Jarrett Kirk who won the title in 2017. Nonetheless, Maier always seems to pull through in big meets when it counts. Watch for him to try and help lead his team back to NXN.
