6A Boys 3200m
Connor O'Neill at NXN.
When: Friday 6:30 PM (CDT)
Why: The two guys to watch in this race are Dallas Jesuit's Conner O'Neill and Southlake Carroll's Charlie Gardner. O'Neill finished 24th at NXN this past fall and sixth at the Texas state XC meet. The University of Texas commit has the fastest PR in the field with his 9:13.39 from this meet last year. Gardner has the second-fastest PR in the field with his run of 9:15.93 from his region meet in 2015. This year, O'Neill has run 9:23.01, while Gardner ran 9:31.27 back in the beginning of March. With a loaded field, both guys will be looking to run well under their 2017 bests.
There are a few other guys in the field as well who could shake things up, including Texas 3A XC state champion Kyle Doty. His current PR is 9:32.86, but with a big field he could go off. Others to keep an eye on who have run sub-9:30 are Keller Central's Eric Casarez, Plano West's Jackson Vicary, and Allen's Jake Johnson.
