Over the next 11 days the eyes of the entire track & field world will be on the US Olympic Team Trials out in Eugene Oregon. Competing there will be 15 athletes from Virginia in 18 declared events. The Florida Gator recruits both qualified for the Olympic Trials, but an injury kept Josephus out of competition this spring. Noah won his 200m prelim and semi final before placing fourth in the final with a wind-legal time of 20.09 to break the national high school record and just miss a spot to Rio. The road to the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil for Team USA starts Friday at historic Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon. The Olympic Trials will feature over three dozen athletes who went to high school in the Sunshine State and dozens more with ties to Florida whether it be attending college or training here at the professional ranks. Here is a look at those who spent their high school years in Florida and will be looking to dawn the red,white, and blue come August.

Lashawn Merritt, one of the greatest track & field athletes to come out of the state of Virginia, is headed to back to the Olympic Games as the 2008 gold medalist will see if he can become a 2-time Olympic champion in the 400 meters after qualifying and winning his specialty at the Olympic Trials on Sunday.
Justin Gatlin lead a 1-2-3 sweep for Florda in the 100m final at the Olympic Trials on Sunday. Gatlin won in 9.80, followed closely by Trayvon Bromell, with Marvin Bracy nabbing the final spot in 9.98.
