Analysis: After a one-point loss snapped their streak of state titles last season at the CIF State Championships last fall, you know the Buchanan girls will come back more motivated than ever to bring that state title back home. The Buchanan girls return all of their top five finishers from last year's Nike Cross Nationals meet where they placed 8th overall with 274 points. Those top five runners, averaged 19:11 that day with a minuscule 24-second split.
They will look to get back to their winning ways this fall behind senior Elliana Lomeli who ranks as a top 50 returner nationally this fall and who owns a 5K PR of 17:24; and the trio of Sierra Cornett, Tayler Torosian, and Molly Sundgren who all own PRs under 18 minutes. With the fourth fastest scoring average at 17:50.43 going into the season, keep an eye out on the talented girls from "The Golden State".
