The Scoop: Drew Bosley Made A Massive Statement

Big Performances On Pennsylvania's State Course In Hershey

- - -

1. The North Allegheny (PA) High School boys put together their first big win on Saturday at the PIAA Foundation Invitational, winning the Class AAA race by three points over Seneca Valley while finishing its top two runners, Zachary Kinne and Daniel McGoey, in first and second, respectively.

This team is only going to get better. Kinne finished the tough Parkview course in 15:55.00, while McGoey followed a few steps later in 15:58.00 as the Tigers finished its top six runners over the first 36 places and put together an 80 second spread. Of note, however, was that this invitational was run backwards on the course, which means the outcome at state in November could offer several variations. But as a whole, the win was a great performance out of North Allegheny, and the Tigers are quickly learning they may have the best tandem in the state between Kinne and McGoey. The Tigers are starting to build a case beyond Pennsylvania as well.

2. We also saw the opener for Northern (PA) High School junior Marlee Starliper, who ran the fastest overall time among the girls field in 18:12.00 in the Class AA race. Starliper is looking to repeat as a state champion in the classification and returned to the same course where she blazed down its final straightaway in 17:50.
