Southlake Carroll Invitational
When: Saturday, September 8
Where: Bob Jones Park (Southlake, Texas)
Breakdown: Talk about talent. This early season invitational northeast of Fort Worth will be chalk full of Texas' top runners, and welcomes back two runners who set course records in 2017: McKinney North's London Culbreath (17:09.80) and Fort Worth Christian's Carter Cheeseman (15:01.70). The talent extends far beyond those two, though. Brynn Brown, Adoette Vaughan, Natalie Cook, Ava Peeples, Jarrett Kirk, Alex Maier and Michael Abeyta will all race on Saturday. Plus, we'll see Arkansas' top distance runner, Camren Fischer--though the Fayetteville-native has travelled to Texas before. There's no question we'll see some superior times out of this meet-the only question may be how fast, and whether they'll compete with all-time best. On the team front, the Flower Mound boys and girls will step to the line for the second straight week after a fantastic race at Marcus I, matching against a traditionally solid program in Southlake Carroll.
