Analysis: Grant Gardner has been crushing his summer training. If you haven't read his summer training blog then you should definitely check it out. He's been running 60 miles a week the past three weeks in preparation for the season to start. His solid block of training isn't the only reason why he is ranked 14th in the MileSplit50.
Gardner has a proven track record of excelling in cross country. In 2016 he finished 17th at the NXN Southwest Region meet and went on to placed 47th at nationals. In 2017 he finished second in the class 5A Utah State XC Championship behind eventual NXN champion Aidan Troutner of Timpview (UT). He then went on to place 13th at the NXN Southwest Region meet and 34th at Nike Cross Nationals.
On the track this spring the rising senior bosted times of 1:54.13 in the 800m, 4:10.90 in the 1600m, and 8:58.14 in the 3200m, which placed him 13th at the Arcadia Invitational. He was the runner-up in the Utah State Track and Field Championships in the 800m and state champion in the 1600m.
