17.
Team: Muskego (WI)
Analysis: The Muskego girls did not reach NXN last year. They didn't even win their Division 1 state championship in Wisconsin. But there are a couple things to remember entering 2018: 1) The squad, which finished second behind Sun Prairie at state, finished two runners inside the top five and three in the top 20; 2) The team also brings back all seven of its varsity runners from a year ago.
Now, the team will need to cut its 1-to-5 spread, which is just over 100 seconds from the front (Kate Sperka's 17:55.30) to back (Ani Oxborough's 19:42.90), but what's promising is that Muskego has just one senior (Kate Jochims) and five fast-developing sophomores. Plus: Sperka and Jochims have the potential to be a very dangerous 1-2 combo in Wisconsin--they went No. 2 and No. 4 at state--and could lift this team to an NXN berth.
