7.
Athlete: Brooke Rauber
Year: Sophomore, Class of 2021
School: Tully (NY)
Analysis: Rauber was arguably the most impressive freshman of 2017, finishing sixth at NXN, second at NXR New York and first at the New York Class D state championships, which was her second straight state title within the classification. While Rauber only recorded three sub-18 performances, her last came at NXN, where she finished in 17:56.70. She also finished runner-up in just three races, with two of those performances coming against Katelyn Tuohy and the other coming against No. 12 Claire Walters.
Rauber's talent extended to the spring, where she split 2:19.85 in the 800m, 4:28.87 in the 1500m and 9:50.95 in the 3000m. She also was second in the 2K Steeple in New York, producing a PR of 6:45.34 earlier in the season. An athletic and gifted runner who has wheels to finish races at the line, Rauber will once again be one of the top contenders in New York and beyond in 2018.
