Analysis: Wolfgram's freshman campaign went about as good as she could have imagined, with a sectional title, a state title, an NXR Heartland championship, two national qualifiers and an All-American finish. What's next?
The sophomore will likely have higher expectations to perform up to those same standards in 2018, which is reasonable considering her stellar run in 2017. She scored a personal best of 16:48.67 in the 5K at NXR Heartland and finished eight times under 18 minutes, flourishing inside and outside the state of Minnesota. But it was at Foot Locker Nationals where she likely had her best race, crossing the finish in seventh-place in 17:51.90. Competing in Class A among the likes of Grace and Lauren Ping, Wolfgram will have competition to keep her honest, too.
