Taylor Ewert Has Huge Double
Taylor Ewert of Beavercreek, Ohio, had a huge weekend taking two major wins and punched her ticket to Finland. On Saturday, the rising junior ran a 6:38.79 to win the 2K steeple in Greensboro, North Carolina. Her time ranks US No. 1, and she took down a talented field of steeplechasers, which included previous US No.1 Aziza Chigatayeva from Brooklyn Technical in Brooklyn, New York, and US No. 2 Brooke Rauber from Tully, New York.
Rauber (6:46.29) and Chigatayeva (6:47.58) finished third and fourth, respectively, behind Ewert and Sarah Trainor, who took second (6:41.47).
After finishing the steeple, Ewert then hopped in a car and went over to Bloomington, Indiana, where she entered the 10K race walk at 8:30 AM on Sunday morning. Ewert crushed the competition there walking a new PR and American junior record time of 49:07.52. This 10K race walk win punched her ticket to Tampere, Finland, for the IAAF U20 World Championships.
