The Scoop: Twanisha Terry Sets NCAA Lead In 100m

Dustin Horter Demolishes Eastern Relays 3200m Field For US No. 1 8:48.61

Dustin Horter put his stamp on the national leaderboard on Friday at the Eastern Relays.

The Lakota East (OH) senior started to distance himself from the field through four laps in the elite boys 3200m and then just went for it, finishing in a whirlwind final lap that saw him post a new US No. 1 time of 8:48.62.

Henry County (TN) senior Titus Winders was second in 8:52.36 while Colonel Crawford (OH) senior and Iowa State recruit Chad Johnson was third in 8:52.91. A total of five runners broke the important nine-minute mark at the distance, adding to a list that now includes 20 runners nationally to have achieved that feat.

But it was Horter's night, and the Indiana University signee, who was the defending champion, controlled almost the entire race, gapping the field so much in the final laps that it was hard for anyone to kick him down in the final stretches -- even though Winders had an impressive finish himself.
