The national leaderboards will ebb and flow at an alarming rate over the next few weeks as more states hit the fold over the outdoor season.
But it's worth noting, with spring beginning and the air still crisp, that we're already witnessing some incredible performances in March.

One in particular comes from Arizona, where Desert Edge (AZ) senior Tyson Jones tossed a state record of 70 feet, 4.5 inches in the shot put at the Willie Williams Invitational on March 17. His continuing progression in the event has warranted over a seven-foot improvement of his best of 65-0 as a junior, though he's been routinely over 66-11 since the season began.
That new mark, which puts Jones on an elusive list of prep athletes to throw over 70 feet, also put him on the all-time high school list with a top 35 effort.
But the crazy thing is how much he won by. The second-place effort was 45-11.50.
Not to be forgotten, however, was another big performance in Oregon. Sherwood High's Shelby Moran threw the 14th best effort all-time with a toss of 191-9, though she is still chasing the state record of 200-7, which was set in 2011 by Brittany Hinchcliffe.
Impressively, too, comes a race from Florida, where Estero (FL) High junior Hugh Brittenham went a US No. 1 mark and career best of 1:52.72 at the IMG Academy Invitational.
Standout US No. 1 Marks:
- 800m: Estero (FL) junior Hugh Brittenham earns his second with 1:52.72 effort in 800
- 300mH: Miami Northwestern (FL) senior Thomas Burns chips away with 36.56
- TJ: Fountain-Fort Carson (CO) senior Jequan Hogan becomes top wind-legal 50-plus jumper
- PV: Mondo Duplantis appears at Oil City Relays and notches 18-6
- SP: Desert Edge (AZ) senior Tyson Jones throws state record 70-4.5 at Willie Williams Invitational
- HJ: Wilson Long Beach (CA) High's Glen Rachel heights 5-11 in girls action
- Hammer: Sherwood (OR) High's Shelby Moran produces state record 191-6 girls mark
