The Weekend Rundown: The Best Action From Around The Country

Texas Takes Down Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival

With the McNeil Invitational in Texas canceled, several Texas teams went to other meets. One of the meets where many Texas teams ended up was The Chile Pepper Cross Country Festival. The Flo50 No. 10-ranked Keller Indians were always planning on attending, and they showed up in force.

The ladies from Keller put on a show in the Senior High Girl's "El Caliente" race. They finished second, third, fourth, 17th, and 24th to earn 50 points led by junior Isabel Van Camp who has been having an outstanding season. Van Camp has been running strong all 2017, starting back in the spring when she finished third in the 6A 800m dash at the UIL Track and Field Championship.

The Keller Indians had a 1:20 1-5 split and a 18:18 average at the meet. Rounding out the top three teams on the girls side were Houston Stratford (TX) with a score of 165 points and Norman High School (OK) with 181 points.

The individual champion was Blue Springs South High School's Victoria Findley who has been on a winning streak of her own after taking first at the Rim Rock Farm High School XC Classic last weekend, and at her last two meets before that. She ran 17:40.20 on the 5K course at the Chile Pepper Festival.
