Analysis: As an 8th grader, Fenske was 22nd at NXN, third at NXN Heartland, and earned her first Minnesota state high school league championship in a blistering time of 17:41.80. Fenske took a big step as a runner in 2016, posting a season PB of 17:00.44 at NXN Heartland, and posting three straight performances under 18 minutes late in the season.
Over the spring, she followed with a 1600m PB of 4:54.72 and added a win at the distance at the MSHSL championships in 4:55.20. She was third in the 3200m in 10:36.81 and 12th in the 2-mile and 5K at New Balance Nationals Outdoor.
