Daniel Claxton of Smithtown East (NY) became the first high jumper in the nation to clear 7 feet this season with his winning clearance at the Ocean Breeze Invitational last Saturday. It was Claxton's first time over 7 feet after achieving a personal best of 6'11" last spring. The last time an athlete from New York has cleared 7 feet dates back to 2005 as well.
