The Class of 2019 is led in the 100m by Floridian Tyrese Cooper's 10.49. The national freshman class record holder for 200m (20.68) and 400m (46.43) is chasing the national frosh record of 10.35 for the 100m, which was set by Jamar Ervin of Camden, N.J. in 2000.
Cooper set his PR, which ranks U.S. No. 6, at the Southridge Spartan Invitational in February. Eight other ninth-graders have run under 11 seconds this year in the event.
