Brooke Starn, Holly Lung Are Surprise Stars At Mt. SAC As Great Oak Keeps Cruising
In the Girls Team Sweepstakes, Holly Lung was the surprise winner in 17:17 to make it a clean sweep for Arcadia High School. The junior ran away from Evelyn Mandel (2nd, 17:26) and Destiny Collins (3rd, 17:04) of Great Oak to win her first major invitational win. Lung ran 18:03 at Mt. SAC last year.

Mandel and Collins led No. 2 ranked Great Oak to a 30-point win over No. 17 Davis and No. 12 Arcadia, though the win was hardly a surprise as the No. 2 ranked team has rolled through all of their competition this fall. They placed their top five scorers within the top 11 overall finishers with a 29-second spread and everyone at 17:55 or faster for a 17:42 three mile average.
What was a surprise was Davis taking down Arcadia, even without No. 1 runner Fiona O'Keeffe, who did not race on Saturday. Add automatic '1' point in O'Keeffe and subtract 35 points from No. 5 and their score goes all the way down to 42 points.

The fastest time of the day on the girls side came from Brooke Starn of Monte Vista, who ran 16:55 to win. She ran 17:56 on this course last year. Starn will compete for Harvard next year.
