MileSplit All-American Team - Boys 400m Dash Presented by New Balance
Michael Norman ran a U.S. No. six All-Time 45.19 at the California State Meet
1. Michael Norman (Vista Murrieta, CA - Jr.) - Norman was unbeatable in the quarter this year, running to a U.S. No. Six All-Time 45.19 personal best. He ran that time at the California State Meet. The junior pulled together an amazing post-season, showing his range in everything from the 100m to the 400m. His most impressive 400m time was at the state meet, but the junior also won the Arcadia 400m (45.91) as well as the Brooks PR Invitational 400m (46.38).
2. Josephus Lyles (Alexandria, VA - Jr.) - Lyles has won the Virginia state 400m title over the past two years! This year, the junior ran a 47.41 to claim the title. What's more impressive are some of his post-season wins, including victories at the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational (46.60), NBNO (45.99) and most recently, the USATF World Youth Trials, where he ran U.S. No. 3 45.77.
3. Keshun Reed (Arlington Martin, TX - Jr.) - Reed has the second fastest time in the country behind Norman with his 45.75 from the Texas State Meet. The junior qualified for the World Youth Championships, finishing runner-up behind Lyles in 46.06.
4. Obi Igbokwe (Woodlands, TX - Sr.) - Igbokwe was the runner-up at the Texas State Meet, where he finished just behind Reed in 46.34. The senior also took second at the Brooks PR Invitational (46.69) just behind Norman. His fastest time of the season of 46.22, which ranks U.S. No. 8, is from his Texas regional meet.
5. Wil London (Waco, TX -Sr.) - The Baylor commit has the fourth-fastest time in the country of 45.96, which he ran in bad conditions at the TTFCA Meet of Champions. He was second at the Texas State Meet (47.47) just behind fellow senior Eric Age (47.31). London capped off his season running at the Brooks PR Invitational, where he placed third in 46.80.
6. Quintaveon Poole (Washington, GA -Jr.) - Poole was the Georgia State Champ in the 200m dash in 21.32. In the 400m, the junior finished fourth in a loaded field at Brooks PR Invitational in 46.95, then third (46.68) behind two college freshman at the USATF Junior Championship meet.
7. Jamal Walton (Everglades, FL - So.) - The sophomore from Florida placed fourth in the Carifta Games back in early April in 47.43. Walton ran his fastest time of the year (46.16 U.S. No. five) at the prelims of the Orange Bowl FLYTAF Invitational, which he would later go on to win.
8. William Allen (Paul Dunbar, KY - So.) - As only a sophomore, Allen was the Kentucky state champion in both the 200m (21.24) and 400m (47.09) this year. He rounded out his season finishing second in the 400m at NBNO (46.38), and fourth (46.77) at USATF Junior Championships in a field with several college freshman.
