Girls Distance
Hannah Debalsi ran U.S.No. 3 10:03 for 2 Miles at the Brooks PR Invitational. The Staples, CT junior is a top entrant in the 3000m.
Girls 800m
This field includes surprise NCAA champion Raevyn Rogers of Oregon, who ran the second-fastest time in NCAA history to win in 1:59.71. Rogers is by far the class of this field, followed by SEC champion Brooke Feldmeier of Ole Miss, who owns a best of 2:03.86.
But behind those two, there are several high schoolers could sneak into the third spot. Sarah Walker of Germantown Friends, Pa. is coming off a runner-up finish at New Balance Nationals Outdoor and 2:05.79 personal best at the Caribbean Scholastic Invitational. The junior has raced under 2:10 14 times in her young career. Minnesota state record holder Ruby Stauber took fourth in a deep field at Brooks PR, racing her new best of 2:05.67. This duo leads a deep corral of high schoolers who have sub-2:10 credentials this year.
Girls 1500m
2014 adidas Dream Mile champion Sarah Feeny headlines this field, which will feature just one heat. The Utah freshman ran a personal best of 4:18.24 for 1500m this year, which is equivalent to a 4:38 mile, though she raced just 4:30 at the NCAA West Regionals.
Junior Stephanie Jenks of Linn-Mar, Iowa is a consistent 4:40s miler with a 1600m best of 4:40.78. She placed just ninth at both the adidas Dream Mile and Brooks PR, but will likely be the top high school runner in this event.
Kate Murphy, the New Balance Nationals Indoor runner-up for two miles, is traditionally more of a distance girl as she also won the Penn Relays 3k in US #1 9:32.82. Ranked just behind her in that event is Jenks. Murphy also slightly underperformed at the Brooks PR and will likely be looking to redeem herself with a nice personal best to close out the season; her best is a solo 4:46.99 1600m.
A star on the rise is Taylor Roe of Olympic View Middle School in Wash. The eighth-grader ran a solo 4:47.60 for 1600m to win her middle school district championship, as the runner-up ran 5:59 - still a respectable time for middle school.
Girls 3000m
Missouri freshman Karissa Schweizer is the top seed in this field with a 9:25.31 best. She qualified for the NCAA West Prelim with a 16:32.91 5k, but watch out for Staples, CT junior Hannah Debalsi. The All-American set the national sophomore class record in the two mile last year with an impressive 9:55, but looked a little flat due to injuries and illness most of the year. She is peaking at the height of championship season, as she ran U.S. No. 3 10:03.24 to take third at Brooks PR behind U.S. No. 1 Anna Rohrer and U.S. No. 2 Destiny Collins.
Another potential front runner is Rachel Dadamio of Birmingham Seaholm, who took third at New Balance Nationals Outdoor in 10:24.72.
Girls 5000m
Caroline Alcorta of UNC-Chapel Hill has continued her stellar senior year at West Springfield into a standout frosh campaign that included a 16:13 5k best at the Stanford Invitational. She was an All-ACC performer and qualified for the NCAA East Prelims.
Georgetown-bound Audrey Belf of Birmingham-Seaholm, MI is likely the top prep entrant. She set the Michigan state record for 5k with a 16:29.68 time in April and most recently placed fourth at the Brooks PR 2 Mile with 10:14.78. Belf won this race in hot conditions last year, but was unable to race at the IAAF World Junior Championship because she did not have the standard.
Girls 3000m Steeplechase
North Rockland, N.Y. sophomore Alex Harris took just third at her own state meet in the 2000m steeple, but cruised to a new personal best of 6:52.10 to win the New Balance Nationals Outdoor Championship last weekend. No other prep in the field has broken seven minutes.
Of those college crowd, Samantha McKinnon of Oregon State has the best seed time in 10:25.78. She was All-Pac-12 in the event and qualified for the NCAA West Prelims.
Girls 10k Racewalk
Elgin, Ill. junior Anali Cisneros is ready to win this challenging event after finishing runner-up in 53:42.86. She was also the runner-up in the 3k racewalk (15:25) at last summer's USATF Youth Outdoor Track and Field Championship.
